Some of the stories about the Ouija Board have been repeated so often that they are approaching urban legend status.  Most of us know of someone whose friend's cousin has had something demonic happen to them when using a talking board.  I have never been able to verify that any of these stories had any semblance of truth to them. 

     This is not to say that strange things do not happen when using a board.  They do, and quite often if you let them.  This will be covered in another essay.

     Many cases of possession were reported in the middle ages.  This was an age of religious fervor and superstition.  You do not hear too much about possession since the medical community has discovered a variety of psychotic disorders.  The only place that you hear about modern cases of possession is from various fundamentalist christian  preachers and believers.  Again, a group filled with religious fervor and superstition.

     Preaching about demons and possession is a very lucrative business for the fundamentalist preachers.  Their gullible following believes everything that they are told.  They spend millions each year on books and donations to these preachers.  It is not suprising that an easily led and highly impressionable believer would claim to have some bad experiences.  I have never been able to find a documented case that is definitely a "possession". 

     I have talked with mental patients that speak to demons, hear voices, claim to have creatures eating their internal organs, talk with God, are God, or have had sex with a deceased girlfriend's spirit.  All this, and no Ouija Board to blame it on.  Of course, routine administration of psychotropic drugs seems to stop these occurrences.

     After 25 years of researching the paranormal, I can state that unless you are psychotic, easily impressionable or a staunch fundamentalist christian (am I being redundant here?), there will be no problem with using a talking board or pursuing any of the other activities in this web site.

     The talking board is probably the fastest and easiest path to experiencing contact with the unknown.  It has started many on a quest for a spiritual truth devoid of dogma and superstition.  Take your first step on the PATH of spiritual enlightenment today!
